Austin Crute to Play 'Lane' in ABC Comedy Pilot 'My Village'
Rachel Sennott (Shiva Baby), Joey Bragg (Father of the Year), Emma Caymares (Fosse/Verdon) and Austin Crute (Daybreak) are set as series regulars opposite Kyra Sedgwick in My Village, ABC’s multi-camera comedy pilot from The New Adventures of Old Christine creator Kari Lizer, Sony Pictures TV and ABC Studios. Veteran multi-camera comedy director Pam Fryman has been tapped to direct the pilot.
Written and executive produced by Lizer, My Village revolves around an empty-nester mom, Jean Raines (Sedgwick), who wonders how she ended up alone while her children live their best lives thousands of miles away. She decides her place is with her family and as she reinserts herself into their lives, her kids realize they might actually need her more than they thought.
Crute is Lane, Jackie’s roommate. Also from the Midwest. His parents stopped talking to him when he came out. Lane is thrilled to have Jean around as a surrogate mother-figure. He’s a deeply loyal friend to Jackie. He’s not quite figured out the LA gay scene and will gladly accept Jean’s wisdom and home cooking.
Actor, singer, songwriter Crute most recently starred as Wesley Fists in Netflix’s Daybreak. His other TV credits include the role of Black Justin Bieber in Donald Glover’s series Atlanta and a guest role on Orange is the New Black. On the big screen, Crute can be seen in Annapurna’s feature Booksmart. He most recently wrapped shooting a season-long arc on Netflix’s cult series hit Trinkets. On the music side Crute will be dropping his mixtape Twenties August 4th and his new single March 31st. He is repped by Paradigm, NINETY5IVE and Roberts Leibowitz & Hafitz…CONTINUE TO ARTICLE

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY SHARES EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK AT NEFLIX'S 'DAYBREAK'
And you thought your high school experience felt like the end of the world.
EW has an exclusive first look at Netflix’s dystopian dramedy Daybreak, centering on an apocalypse-ravaged Glendale, Calif., and the teenagers who’ve taken over. A nuclear blast has transformed adults into brain-dead, bloodthirsty savages, so to survive, the local high schoolers have banded together into Warriors-esque gangs, carving out their own laws and domains. (The athletes and the cheerleaders have their own circles, of course, but so do the 4-H Club and the self-proclaimed disciples of Kardashia.)… Continue to article.

NETFLIX PRESENTS: DAYBREAK, EXCLUSIVE WORLD PREMIERE
Friday, October 4, 2019, 6:45-8:15 PM
Javits Convention Center – Room 1A06
High school isn’t the end of the world… until it is. In this post-apocalyptic, genre-bending series, the city of Glendale, California is populated by marauding gangs of jocks, gamers, the 4-H Club, and other fearsome tribes who are kicking a** as they fight to survive in the wake of a nuclear blast (on the night of Homecoming…ugh). Following an eclectic group of survivors, as they navigate this strange and treacherous world, DAYBREAK is part samurai saga, part endearing coming-of-age story, and part Battle Royale. This Generation A series (A for Apocalypse! Get it?) is rated TV-MA. Participants include cast members Matthew Broderick, Colin Ford, Sophie Simnett, Austin Crute, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Jeanté Godlock, Cody Kearsley and Gregory Kasyan; and executive producers Aron Eli Coleite, Brad Peyton and Jeff Fierson.

THE STARS OF 'BOOKSMART' SHARE BEHIND-THE-SCENES MEMORIES
If two’s a crowd and three’s a party, then an ensemble cast of some of the hottest new talent in Hollywood is… a full-on rager.
Booksmart, the directorial debut of Olivia Wilde that EW’s own critic called “riotous,” offers up the possibility of a breakout star to the power of at least 10. The coming-of-age comedy follows Molly and Amy, two book-smart (duh) students in an L.A. suburb who are intent on spending their last night of high school chasing a wild party dream they never realized they had, and puts its young talent front and center. Beanie Feldstein and Kaitlyn Dever take the lead, joined by Billie Lourd (Gigi, the party girl), Skyler Gisondo (Jared, the party bro), Molly Gordon (the aptly named Triple A), Noah Galvin (George, the lead drama queen), Austin Crute (Alan, his partner in crime), Mason Gooding (Nick, Molly’s crush), Victoria Ruesga (Ryan, Amy’s crush), Diana Silvers (Hope, the pretty one), and Nico Hiraga and Eduardo Franco (Tanner and Theo, the skaters)…continue to article.
